Painting by Simon Footitt

An offshore breeze
Carries darkening skies
Back out to sea.
That same breeze
Takes fragile blossom
To fly the world
And settle
In foreign climes
Or a beached boat.
Old stone house
Watches patiently,
As the swirling blossom
Creates red and pinks splashes
On a grey day,
It’s seen it all before.
Mr and Mrs Dog
Skirt the cold waters,
Whilst their dog
considers
Chasing shadows
On an empty beach
