About me

I am a retired Accountant and Morris Dancer living in the Pennine village/town of Littleborough, about five miles from Rochdale, and six miles from Todmorden.

Married to Lynda for over fifty years, and we have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Retired now, but in my working life, I worked in a number of industries, and for various large and small companies, including the BBC, and Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

For around twelve years, myself, Lynda and our daughters were dancers and musicians with Rochdale Morris, a Northwest Clog Morris dancing side, and we have danced all over the country – we were “La clog de le Clog” in Morris Dance circles, but we have all been retired from clogging for around twenty five years.

Me in full flight, dancing in our village square, many years ago, 1990s I would guess.

My interest in poetry started when I was in school, through an interest in folk music in general, and Lancashire songs in particular, so I started reading Lancashire dialect poetry, which took me into poetry in general. I have been writing poetry for around twenty five years, and mainly write about what I see around me, but I also try and write Lancashire dialect poetry (not easy), the odd humorous piece (also not easy), and I love writing haiku. I occasionally write article of interest I remember from my childhood, younger days, or bits of stories I’ve picked up over the years, plus I also enjoy writing poems for artists pictures, some of which can be seen on the Art pages.

I currently have two books out, self published, and a third one escaping into the world in July of this year (2026) – all for sale on Amazon.

To end, I hope you enjoy my scribblings and photos, as much as I enjoyed writing and taking them.
